When I was child I always had adventures and a great imagination. I always thought I would be able to find a closet that would lead to a magical land. So far it hasn't actually happened, but I'm still looking! And I appreciate a book that has a similar theme.
Abigail and the Jungle Adventure by Tali Carmi is just that sort of book. Abigail is a young girl who goes to visit her grandparents over Christmas break. While there she stumbles upon a magical bike and the instructions for making it work. In her first adventure she travels to the Amazon jungle and encounters people, animals, and vegetation native to that area. Mindy Liang's illustrations are brightly colored and help tell the story.
This book is geared towards 2-8 year old children with simple enough language that beginning readers can read it themselves. It is the first in a series of books that will help young readers explore the world.
I read this book to my children's play group and they loved the imagination in this book. All children have active imagination and this book just makes it seem possible.
If you'd like to try Abigail and the Jungle Adventure it's available on Amazon for the low Kindle price of $1.00.
